Our Baie de Pont-Mahé, a magnificent view, a treasure to be discovered!
You won’t need a car, the beach is at your feet; If you enjoy gathering shellfish (clams, cockles) you’ll be in heaven! Open up your senses as you walk, cycle or even horse-ride. Leave early in the morning to watch the birdlife, in all the peace and magic of nature. Visit the bird reserves to the south of La Brière (Ker Anas and Pierre Constant at Saint-André des Eaux). .

Don’t miss:
Guérande, the mediaeval fortified town centre loved by the Dukes of Brittany.
As you walk down the narrow cobbled streets, cast an eye on the beautiful wrought-iron signs on the restaurants and shops;
visit the Collégiale and the Place St Aubin where in summer you will find, the Old Book and Paper Market (every Monday). From the Porte St Michel, the Tourist Office organises themed visits, to take you back into the history of the town. (www.ot-guerande.fr).

The Guérande peninsula and the salt marshes :
Guérande salt, one of the riches of the area, is the “Flower of Salts”, taste it, learn how it is produced and prepared; gaze at the salt pans and discover the natural mechanisms and the wild life associated with this famous salt. Along with the many sights of the peninsula (www.terredesel.fr; at Pradel-Guérande; the salt-workers’ village of Saillé-Guérande and its museum www.maisondespaludiers.fr ; Batz sur mer : The Salt-Marsh Museum).

LE PAYS NOIR (BLACK COUNTRY):
- a country of peat and the Regional Natural Park (2nd-largest in France after the Camargue).

St Lyphard, a village with 700 Brière-style cottages. From the top of the church tower, a superb view of the marshes. A walk through the village of Kerhinet will immerse you in the daily life of the people of Brière (mid-July to mid-August guided tours are available). Every Thursday throughout the summer, there is a craft market. Discover la Brière from one of its many ports (Bréca, la Pierre Fendue), with guided tours in a chaland (flat-bottomed boat) or in a horse-drawn carriage.

La Roche-Bernard, the face of Morbihan, a little town full of character and a pretty pleasure harbour. Panoramic view of the bridge over the River Vilaine. Departure of lunch cruises with the “Vedettes Jaunes” (www.vedettesjaunes.com) which you can also find at the Barrage d’Arzal (10 min from Pont – Mahé). Visit this dam, whose design is unique in Europe.

The Côte Sauvage (Wild Coast):
- From la Turballe to Croisic via la Baule.
On foot, by bicycle or car, in your camping car (various parking options available), admire the splendour of the cliffs and the creeks; the amazing colours of the sea and the sparkling sand.
20 minutes away lies la Turballe, a fishing village, where boats leave for Belle-Ile en Mer (45min), and the islands of Houat and Hoëdic.

La Baule will also amaze you, with its 9km of beach, along the embankment of the Boulevard de l’Océan. Its villas and its maritime pines.
